Staff Pick: 'Infinite Jest' Book Club
The late David Foster Wallace was, without question, a brilliant writer — the kind of guy who could take a seemingly simple assignment (cover the Maine Lobster Festival) and transform it into something profound (an extended treatise that touches, in part, on the ethics of eating lobster).
For some, he's also an intimidating read. This is particularly true of Wallace's landmark novel, “Infinite Jest,” a complex tome that runs an imposing 1,079 pages. With Wild Goose Creative gearing up for a marathon 48-hour reading of the masterwork this August (complete with companion art show), a monthly book club has been launched to help break the book into more easily managed chunks.
The first meet-up takes place Sunday, March 5, so if this is one you've always dreamed of tackling, there's never been a better time than right now.
