Dance program features works choreographed for a (very) small stage

A 4-by-4-foot square is (literally) the stage for Ten Tiny Dances, presented this weekend by Columbus Moving Company. The program features 10 new works by Columbus area choreographers and marks the third such program hosted by CMC based on an original concept by a company in Portland, Oregon.

Noah Rogers, who coordinated for CMC, likened the intimate program to “close hand magic.” The audience is seated on all sides of the stage, with the closest seats within about three feet of the dancers, “[leaving] nothing to hide,” he said.

The pieces will vary in the number of dancers, and more than one piece will take advantage of the aerial capabilities at Movement Activities, where the programs will be held.
