The Columbus Symphony Orchestra's July 23 program lives at the intersection of the orchestra's fall/winter season and its summer season. Combining the finest, most memorable and best-loved masterworks of orchestral music with the less formal outdoor setting on Columbus Commons, the CSO, under the direction of Rossen Milanov, will present Beethoven's “Symphony No. 9” Sunday evening, July 23. Oh, and admission is free.

The performance will feature the entire orchestra, the 120-member Columbus Symphony Chorus and four guest soloists. The Ninth finds Beethoven, while near his life's end, at the height of his compositional powers. The payoff comes with the finale, the glorious “Ode to Joy.”
