Poet's Corner: 'Generational Rebellion'
M. Rigsby

The rebellion of a generation waves
like a banner and it shifts in the
wind like the sands of time fall to change.
Drapery unspooling in the breeze akin to
the scent of perfume originating in America,
where rebellion and societal change is born
and withstands judgmental blows.
An old mannequin takes a drag of her
cigarette, no longer being the epitome of
beauty as society has forgotten her like a
dull book.
Chilled is the steel that holds the outcasts
and cold is the windowsill that separates
them from us— but nobody will shatter the
glass for fear of the heat.
Her hair was blonde when society worshipped
it, but now it is black to match her lonely room
at night.
