Throughout 2019, Columbus College of Art & Design has celebrated its 140th anniversary via “Grads in the Galleries,” in which various Columbus galleries have featured work by CCAD graduates. One such alumnus is Robert Tavani, class of 1985, who attended CCAD as an undergrad before getting his MFA in painting from Ohio State and an MA in art therapy from the University of Illinois. In the years since, Tavani has used his degrees to teach at various colleges, and currently he’s an adjunct professor at Capital University.

Through Jan. 25, Sean Christopher Gallery in the Short North is hosting “Robert Tavani: Heads,” a Grads in the Galleries installation featuring more than 60 of Tavani’s artworks available for purchase in a salon-style exhibition, each portrait hung as if in the artist’s studio. And what better time to check out these heads than on Saturday, Jan. 4, when Sean Christopher will host a mid-exhibition Gallery Hop Reception from 6-10 p.m.

Continuing the collegiate theme into February, Tavani will also be a guest juror for Sean Christopher Gallery’s ninth annual “Young Hearts” juried exhibition, which will feature art from current CCAD students.
