Rapper Earl Sweatshirt does a bit of time traveling on his new song, "2010," which sees him looking back on the hard times, sure, but more so on those moments of joy, like when he'd bump Mary J. Blige on the family's stereo and dream of better days to come.

These brighter days arrive as the song traverses its second half, where Sweatshirt raps about how he's managed to transform these meager beginnings into a booming career ("Threw me loose change, look what I made of it") while positioning this apparent peak as little more than a snapshot in an ongoing ascension. "Saw another height, had my ears poppin'," he raps, sounding like a man who is finally adjusting to life at altitude.

Give the song a listen below.
