Roundup: Fun food events this week

The Grass Skirt Tiki Roomgrand opening
The newest addition to Elizabeth Lessner’s group of fun, quirky, rock ’n’ roll restaurants and bars is a fresh take on the classic tiki bar in the Discovery District. Expect fun updates on Polynesian food — spam and swiss sliders are on the menu — and a cocktail list that gives rum a starring role.

Surf & Truck Tuesdays with Pitabilities
Chances are, if you drop by The Hills Market on any evening or weekend day, you’ll find a food event. We think the Surf & Truck Tuesdays is a standout. Stop by Tuesdays after work for a half pound of peel-and-eat shrimp ($8) and beers on the veranda. Follow that up with dinner, offered by a different food truck each week. The upcoming event features Pitabilities, which, as the name suggests, puts delicious things in pitas.

Local Brews & Burgers
Another weekday happy hour option for you: Hang out at Columbus Commons for burgers and beers from local breweries. Local music will keep the party going. It’s a great chance to try local beers and meet the people who are making them. Four String Brewery is featured this week. Local Brews & Burgers returns every Thursday this fall through Oct. 11.
