Foodies rejoice, the North Market is now home to a German Village stalwart.

Katzinger's Delicatessen will open a location in the North Market in April of 2014, meaning you can get your favorite Katzinger's classic without (as much of) a problem parking.

"Opening a location in the North Market was too good an opportunity to pass up," Katzinger's Delicatessen owner Diane Warren said in a phone interview on Friday. "Not only will it expand our business, but it will expand the opportunities for our employees. Allowing more growth possibilities within our company is another great reason to take advantage."

Katzinger's Deli has been a popular institution in the German Village since 1984. According to North Market Executive Director Rick Harrison Wolfe, that is exactly why he wanted them.

"I knew when I took this position I wanted a 'best in class' deli to be part of the North Market," he said. "Katzinger's just makes sense. It's nice to get what we wanted."

This announcement comes just a month after Pistacia Vera, another German Village mainstay set up shop in the newly renovated Short North space. According to Warren, the North Market location's menu will feature the top ten most popular sandwiches from the German Village location, as well as the most popular side dishes (potato salad included) and of course, the pickle barrels.

Warren hopes to have the North Market location of Katzinger's open by this April.

"It's a different space, but we have a great plan to make it work," Warren said. "As for now, people in the Short North seem really excited to see us in the North Market."
