Food News: Das KaffeeHaus opens at Zauber; Dos Hermanos makes home in North Market

Das KaffeeHaus opened inside Zauber Brewing Co. Based in Lithopolis, the European-style coffee house is the second business to open inside the brewery; Explorers Club recently took over the kitchen. Das KaffeeHaus will be open daily and serve brewed coffee, espresso drinks and German pastries.

Dos Hermanos taco truck opens a stall in the North Market this week. The menu there will feature tacos, chile relleno, tamales, salsa and more. The taco truck will continue running as well. With Dos Hermanos' opening, the market is at full capacity.

Jeni's Ice Creams announced pints will be returning to scoop shops soon. Their re-release is paired with a redesign for the signature ice cream pints.

The Worthington Inn announced that ChefThomas Smith is leaving the restaurant after 13 years as executive chef. Smith plans to open a pizza restaurant in Upper Sandusky.

BrewDog has announced it is looking to build its first U.S. brewpub near downtown Columbus, and is asking for the public's help in finding a suitable site. The search is focused on the Short North, Italian Village, Victorian Village and Franklinton.

Dada Empanada is now open at 199 Chittenden Ave. near Campus.

Land-Grant Brewing is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a party on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to midnight. The celebration will feature special beer tappings, food trucks, live music and more.

WatershedDistillery announced last week an expansion that includes a new still and an increase in square footage. The distillery is expanding its footprint by 30 percent, while the new still will quadruple capacity.

Last week, Middle West Spirits also announced expansion plans and showed off the newest updates to its Short North facility. This included the installation of a 55-foot whiskey and bourbon still. The expansions in Short North and the addition of a storage facility in Milo-Grogan will increase their capacity to more than 10,000 gallons.
