Food News: Balboa opens in Grandview; Short North Coffee House reopens

Southern California-inspiredBalboa, a new concept from the owner of Bodega and the Grandview Cafe (which is currently closed for renovations), opens Thursday, May 5. The bar and restaurant is located at 1312 Grandview Ave. in Grandview.

TheShort North Coffee House reopens Friday, May 6. The shop, which has been closed since last summer, has moved two doors north to 1203 N. High St.

Cafe Phenix opened Downtown last week at 39 E. Gay St., former spot of 39 Below FroYo (which relocated to Olde Towne East). Cafe Phenix offers coffee, tea and sandwiches.

TheEddie George's Grille 27 has opened in the Grandview Yard, following a move out of the Gateway University District.

Block's Bagels announced their new location: 3012 E. Broad St. in the Bexley Centre. In March Block's closed its old location at 3415 E. Broad St., which it had called home for 29 years.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants announced the addition of a thirdCap City Dinerlocation, this one in the Bridge Park development in Dublin.

Hot Chicken Takeover added Tuesday hours starting this week.

Ill Mannered BrewingandSideswipe Brewingannounced expansions this week. Both breweries are expanding brew systems, taprooms and open hours.

TheBarrel & Boar announced it will be moving from Hamilton Road to 121 Mill St. in Gahanna's Creekside development.

Hot Chicken Kitchen, a concept featuring Nashville-style fried chicken, was announced for 1844 Hilliard Rome Rd., with a possible second location coming later this year.

A new location ofSkyline Chili has opened at 2995 Olentangy River Rd. near campus.
