On August 27, the Fourth and Main District will host its first BBQ Block Party and 1/2K race to highlight the area as an up-and-coming destination for drinking and dining.

The events are being organized by Mikey Sorboro, local entrepreneur and founder of Mikey's Late Night Slice. The pizza joint, Hadley's, The Walrus, Dirty Franks and 16-Bit Bar + Arcade are among the list of bars participating in the block party. Attendees will enjoy barbecue from acclaimed Central Ohio barbecue chefs and pitmasters, along with live music. Local celebrities will host and judge a best BBQ competition.

The block party is free and open to the public. However, a VIP Fast Past may be purchased for access to food and drink express lanes.

Additionally, Mikey's Late Night Slice will present the Columbus 1/2K race to benefit the Columbus Diaper bank, which provides diapers to needy families. Billed as "a race for the rest of us," the distance, approximately one-third of a mile, was chosen to encourage people of all fitness levels to participate. Individuals can sign up for $25 each and four-person groups can enter for $85 per team. Dressing up is encouraged.

"The Fourth and Main BBQ Block Party and Columbus 1/2K are two events meant to bring attention to the district's rebranding efforts while also bringing awareness to the city's growing diaper need," Sorboro said in a press release accompanying news of the event.

The block party will run from noon until 10 p.m. All ages are invited to attend.
