Staff Pick: Deschutes Brewery Street Pub

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

402 feet is significantly longer than a football field, and nearly as tall as Cedar Point's anxiety-inducing Top Thrill Dragster, which shoots park visitors to an I-can-see-my-house-from-here height of 420 feet. It's also the length of the bar Oregon brewer Deschutes plans to install in Genoa Park on Saturday, July 9, for a daylong craft beer block party that runs from 2-10 p.m.

The custom bar will offer 60 taps heavy on Deschutes brews (a press release noted pours included everything from seasonal summer offerings like Hop Slice Session IPA to three-year verticals of the brewery's imperial Black Butte Porter: Black Butte XXVI, XXVII and XXVIII), though Franklinton-based Land-Grant Brewing will also be offered on a guest tap. Eats arrive courtesy of Mike Frame of 101 Beer Kitchen and Mike Suclescy and Chris DeVol of Thurman Café, while MojoFlow, the 4onthefloor, Brave Weather and the Buzzard Kings will provide the day's soundtrack.

Attendance is free (though beers are not), and all ages are invited to attend. Visit deschutesbrewery.com/events/streetpubcbus for more information.
