The fourth annual Columbus Craft Beer Week kicks off Friday, May 11, offering nine days of beer tastings, tap takeovers, specialty brews, beer-pairing dinners, educational events, bottle releases, brunches and more. The week-plus is chock full of activities; a glance at the official Beer Week calendars shows 28 different events on the opening Friday alone.

Multiple kick-off events are scheduled for the opening dates, but the official launch party begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at the Grandview Yard Market District, and features live music, food and more than 20 beers on tap.

In honor of the week, 20 Columbus breweries gathered at Four String Brewing's production facility earlier this spring to brew a collaboration beer, named Confluence. The New England-style IPA is available in cans around town. It will also be on draft at the launch party and at several of the collaborating breweries, as well as at the Six One Pour beer festival.

Here's just a sampling (a flight, if you will) of the events featured:

May 11: The third annual Infusapalooza at The Daily Growler in Upper Arlington, with more than 20 infused beers from local breweries, plus a pop-up from Taquitos.

May 12: Lineage and Sideswipe Brewing collaborated to brew two different versions of one beer. In the afternoon, avid bikers can join groups starting at one of the breweries and biking to the other, sampling the beer at each stop.

May 13: Pretentious Barrel House hosts a special bottle release and brunch with Moody Trudy's Food Truck for Mother's Day. (There are multiple Mother's Day-related Beer Week events on Sunday.)

May 14: Drink Up Columbus celebrates its seventh anniversary with a party from 6-9 p.m. at Barley's Underground.

May 15: As with every day of Beer Week, Barley's Brewing will feature a special barrel-aged beer.

May 16: Hoof Hearted releases cans of itsFlorida Room dry-hopped pilsner and $60 Nachos double dry-hopped double IPA.

May 17: Combustion Brewery in Pickerington pairs its beers with North Country Charcuterie's offerings.

May 18: Seventh Son and 2x2 Hip-Hop Festival partner to presentBrews Over Beats, a festival featuring more than 20 craft beers on tap and live hip-hop onstage.

The capstone event, now held earlier in the week, is Six One Pour, a beer festival hosted in the covered concourse of Huntington Park. The event features food from park vendors and beer samples from 55 Ohio breweries. The festival takes place on Saturday, May 12, from 6-9 p.m.
