Food News: Eden Burger and Mac's Cafe close for renovations; The Oracle coming to OTE

Scottish pub Mac's Cafe is temporarily closed at 693 N. High St. Co-owner Patrick Melick says the Short North pub is undergoing a complete renovation — its first since opening 30 years ago this month (goodbye, green Formica). Melick and co-owner Ronald Jezerinac plan to reopen in four to five weeks under the name Mac's Proper Pub. Customers can still order Mac's pub fare next door at Fabian's during the hiatus.

Eden Burger, the plant-based burger joint at 1437 N. High St., is closed until further notice while it undergoes renovations and a menu revamp.

The Oracle, a new bar from the owners of Yellow Brick Pizza, opens Wednesday, May 23, at 1159 Oak St. in Olde Towne East.

TheBrews Over Beats Hip-Hop Craft Beer Festival, presented by Seventh Son Brewing and 2x2 Hip-Hop Festival, takes place 5-11 p.m. Friday, May 18, at 2000 S. High St. on the South Side. The event features live performances and more than 20 Ohio craft beers on tap. Visit for tickets.

Lower Lights Christian Health Center'sJubilee Market and Cafeopened Wednesday at 1160 W. Broad St. in Franklinton. The nonprofit grocery store seeks to combat food insecurity by providing nutritious food at affordable prices. The cafe is a partnership with Graze Catering, the same group that runs Graze inside the Ohio Statehouse.

The pizza cone and light bulb tea trendshit Downtown Columbus with the opening this week ofViizaat 4 E. Broad St. Its specialty is pizza served in a cone-shaped crust with ingredients ranging from classic pepperoni and tomato sauce to barbecued eel and Asian Zing sauce.

Last week, the owners o fFox in the Snow announced the location of their next cafe. The coffee shop will open in New Albany at the corner of Market and Main streets in late fall 2018. Fox in the Snow has locations in Italian Village and German Village.

The Goat's Downtown location opened a coffee counter this week, serving coffee and espresso from Nashville's Crema Coffee Roasters. Open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, the new shop at219 S. High St. also offers a small menu of breakfast foods such as muffins and biscuit sandwiches.

The Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotelopened on Tuesday along with its restaurant,The Two-One, named after the 21st Amendment. The hotel is located at 409 Altair Parkway.
