On Tap: Antiques on High opens

After extensive renovations, months of anticipation and a handful of preview tastings, Seventh Son's new sister brewery, Antiques on High, is open for business. Located in a renovated antique store in the Brewery District, Antiques on High focuses on sour beers. The initial brewing of the beers occurs at Seventh Son's facility in Italian Village, but the barrel fermentation and blending takes place at Antiques on High itself.

The new brewery officially opened on Monday, Nov. 17. The main floor features mid-century design touches. At the front of the space are two plush, leather couches positioned near a fireplace. A row of curved leather booths line the south wall, while community tables fill the center of the space. The walls of the bar are embedded with old beer cans.

Antiques on High also features plentiful patio space. The main floor includes a small patio out front along High Street, where a rotating selection of local food trucks will park, while the rear includes a larger patio. The second floor features an additional 1,500 square feet of open space, including a collection of couches around a second fireplace. Just recently, the brewery enclosed the second floor and added overhead heaters to make it an all-season patio.

The rear of the brewery features 2,000 square feet of brewing and barrel-storage space. This includes two foeders – large wooden barrels for aging beer – plus more than 100 additional barrels and a pair of blending tanks.

The brewery opened with eight house beers on tap, plus selections from Seventh Son, a wine list and cocktails curated by Travis Owens (formerly of Curio). The initial offerings include brews like the Wax Poetic sour blond ale, the Crushed Velvet sour red with black and red raspberries, the Saddle Lamp sour dark ale, the Trinket blended saison and the Tessera Mosaic IPA.

Antiques on High's hours run 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to midnight Sundays.
