Food News: SOW Plated opens in UA; Wake Up with the Commons returns for July

SOW Plated, a new health-conscious restaurant and wellness concept, opens Tuesday, July 9, at the Shops on Lane (1625 W. Lane Ave.) in Upper Arlington. SOW’s founders are John Fahlgren (formerly the Columbus-based advertising agency Fahlgren Mortine) and his wife, Sunny. The new concept will feature a plant-forward menu, health seminars, yoga and more.

Wake Up with the Commons is returning for the month of July. Every Tuesday in July, you’re an assortment of breakfast trucks will be serving at the Columbus Commons Downtown from 7-10:30 a.m. Participating trucks include Buckeye Donuts, Crimson Cup Coffee Truck and Nate’s Steamed Bagels.

Tickets are on sale for the North Market’s annual Ohio Wine Festival, taking place July 12 and 13. This annual event features samples from Ohio wineries, live music, an outdoor farmers’ market on Saturday and food from North Market merchants. The Columbus Vegan Festival (formerly the Columbus VegFest) is coming to Whetstone Community Recreation Center (3923 N. High St.), on Saturday, Aug. 24. Visit for more information.

Egg-O-Holic is now open at 331 W. Bridge St. in Dublin. The breakfast eatery bills itself as an “Indian egg specialty restaurant,” and the menu features dishes such as Green Boiled Fry (two boiled eggs cooked in Indian spices) and Eggxotic Papad (Masala Papad with shredded boiled egg).

Bar Louie in Easton Town Center, which closed after its lease ended on June 8, will be replaced by “an exciting new concept” to be announced in the near future, according to a report in ThisWeek Community News.

Afghan eatery The Kabob Shack is now open in Hilliard at 4568 Cemetery Rd.
