Wetstone Beer Co. to open in Columbus by year's end
By year’s end, those working up a thirst in Clintonville’s Whetstone Park will be able to quench it with a visit to the city’s newest brewery: Wetstone Beer Co.
The new venture from industry veterans will include a 15-barrel brewhouse located in an industrial park outside of the city, which will also host tours and include a small tasting room. In addition, the brewery is opening a Clintonville tasting room in the former location of Clintonville Outfitters at 2864 N. High St., pending approval of a parking variance.
The Clintonville location will be home to Wetstone’s sour beer and barrel-aging facilities, in addition to a planned coffee shop offering everything from espresso to cold brew coffee on tap.

Wetstone’s leadership team includes Head Brewer Jake Borsvold, who previously worked for Cleveland’s Great Lakes Brewing Company and helped develop BrewDog’s pilot and sour beer programs. Borsvold is joined by Wetstone President Massie Lawson, who has served as national sales director for Columbus’ Land-Grant Brewing Company and Dark Horse Brewing Co. in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Director of Operations Don Cotter, formerly of Kindred Ales, rounds out the team.
In a nod to the building Wetstone will take over, the Clintonville location will incentivize walking and biking, with ample bike parking and a bicycle repair station onsite. A rotating selection of food trucks will offer lunch and dinner.
The brewery has no immediate plans to enter into distribution and will instead focus on community-based events and tasting room beer releases.
