Food News: Fox in the Snow named one of America's best coffee shops

Last week, Food & Wine named Fox in the Snow one of the best coffee shops in America. Helping Lauren Culley and Jeff Excell’s trio of coffee shops to stand out are Culley’s “exceptional” baked goods. The pair opened its first location in Italian Village in 2015, followed by a second shop in German Village in the winter of 2018 and a third in New Albany this year.

The small, family-run coffee roaster Florin Coffee announced on social media last week that it’s adding a coffee shop. According to Columbus Underground, Florin Café will open in North Linden in December.

Galena Brewing Co. is expected to unveil its new Westerville facility at 5901-B Chandler Court starting on Saturday, Nov. 16. Regular hours for the brewery and taproom, which is relocating from Johnstown, will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Grandview’s The Old Spot (1097 W. First Ave.) unveiled a revamped menu last week under the direction of head chef Sami Nipps. New menu items include a porchetta sandwich, pork schnitzel and the spaghetti and meatballs from sister restaurant La Tavola. Co-owner Rick Lopez, who also owns Lupo, says he’s handed over the reins at La Tavola to Lupo’s former sous chef, Dylan Allen. The move will give the veteran chef-owner more freedom to float between his three restaurants.

Oliver’s on Lynn (26 N. High St.) announced on social media that it’s rebranding as Belly Burger & Whiskey Joint.Stay tuned for more details.

Tio’s Tacos and Tequila’s vendor license has been suspended by the Ohio Department of Taxation. The restaurant at 201 S. High St. has been shuttered (at least temporarily) since Nov. 4, according to a public notice posted on the door of the Downtown establishment.
