Zaftig Brewing Co.’s new brewpub opens today, Dec. 2, at 119 E. Fifth Ave. in Italian Village. Owners Jim Gokenbach and Jason Blevins launched the Worthington-based brewery in 2014, with an emphasis on big, high-gravity brews. Located in the mixed-use Beeker building, Zaftig’s new taproom and restaurant opens today at 3 p.m. with a limited food and drink menu.

The Mix, a restaurant serving the rare combination of Peruvian and Somali cuisines, is now open at 4362 Karl Rd. on the North Side. Its specialty is pollo a la brasa, Peruvian-style chicken dry rubbed with spices and then roasted over charcoal. Somali sambusas are also offered, with more Somali dishes on the way soon.

Geordie’s Restaurant (1586 S. High St.) recently launched a happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The 6-month-old English pub in Merion Village is offering draft beers for $5, pork Wellingtons for $5, and mini-fish and chips for $8.50.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Lucky’s Market (2770 N. High St.) in Clintonville will host a Holiday Impact Day. Ten percent of the market’s total sales on Tuesday will be donated to the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center to help feed community members in need. The store’s hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
