Food News: Taste of Belgium closes at North Market, 4th & State debuts Downtown
This weekend, the owners of Eden Burger are continuing the soft launch for their new plant-based café, called 4th & State, located at, yes, the corner of Fourth and State streets Downtown. The café offers a small selection of breakfast items, as well as salads, veggie bowls, sandwiches and flatbreads. The soft opening takes place Dec. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with plans to add dinner hours at a later date.
The North Market’s decade-old Belgium waffle vendor has closed. According to Columbus Underground, the North Market Development Authority did not renew Taste of Belgium’s lease. On its Facebook page, Taste of Belgium announced intentions to reopen elsewhere in Columbus. In the meantime, waffles are still available to order online at authenticwaffle.com.
Double Barrel Kitchen & Bar, a new spot for burgers, wings, bourbon and live music, debuted this week at 6445 N. Hamilton Rd. near Westerville. Founders Steve Cohee, Todd Taylor and John Votino also own the Tex-Mex eatery Adobe Gila’s. Double Barrel’s grand opening party kicks off at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, featuring live music from the Jack.
A new Chinese restaurant called K House is now serving lunch and dinner at 5230 Bethel Center Mall, formerly Hong Kong Express.
