Oshio Station is coming soon to Downtown Columbus, replacing Hai Poke

Openings & Announcements 

The Grandview sushi restaurant Oshio is expanding into the heart of Downtown, according to new signage at 194 S. High St. Named Oshio Station, the sushi and bento spot is taking over the Highpoint space recently vacated by Hai Poke. 

The mystery flavor collab between Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and country music icon Dolly Parton is no longer a secret. The new flavor, Strawberry Pretzel Pie, is an homage to the old-fashioned, Jell-O based dessert found at Southern potlucks. Jeni’s new take features pretzel streusel, cream cheese ice cream and “lipstick red” strawberry sauce. The new ice cream drops April 8 online and at Jeni’s scoop shops. The flavor will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. 

Frank’s Fish and Seafood Market is adding a second location at 2410 Hilliard Rome Road in Hilliard. The seafood retailer, owned by Frank Gonzalez, replaces Mosley's Meat Market. The shop’s office manager, Nancy Goverde, says the 2,400-square-foot market is expected to open in April, pending the delivery of equipment. In business for 43 years, Frank’s original location at 251 Trabue Road is known for its fresh fish and shellfish offerings, as well as a carry-out that serves deep-fried seafood platters, salads and more. The new location will be retail only. 

A Columbus favorite is going all-in at the Hollywood Casino. Under a new agreement, Mikey Sorboro’s New York-style pizzeria, Mikey’s Late Night Slice, is set to replace the I.O. Bar inside the casino at 200 Georgesville Road. The West Side casino’s owners, Penn National Gaming, will operate the eatery and bar while using Mikey’s branding, recipes and expertise.  

Speaking of the West Side, La Plaza Tapatia’s brand new 44,000-square-foot international market is now open at 255 Georgesville Road. 

Chef Moves 

Jacob Inscore, Comune’s most recent executive chef, has moved to New York. Inscore stepped in to lead the Comune (677 Parsons Ave.) kitchen in the summer of 2019. Not long after, the plant-based restaurant was named one of the city’s 10 Best Restaurants by Columbus Monthly
