Food News: Galla Park Steak debuts in Short North; Mouton reopens

A Cincinnati restaurant group has opened Galla Park Steak at 900 N. High St.

Openings & Announcements 

Cincinnati-based Galla Park Steak opened Wednesday at 900 N. High St. in the Short North. The high-end restaurant and lounge, owned by Peerless Management Group, combines a modern steakhouse with an entertainment venue, including a DJ and a $121 round of 10 sake bombs for the table. The food menu features charbroiled oysters, sushi bowls, seafood entrees, pastas and steaks that range from $42-$74.  

Hot Chicken Takeover is about to get some serious competition. Dave’s Hot Chicken, which originated as a pop-up in an East Hollywood parking lot, just signed a franchising agreement to open 28 locations in Ohio and Indiana. According to QSR magazine, 13 restaurants are expected to open in the Columbus area. The Nashville hot chicken joint was founded by chef Dave Kopushyan and three friends in 2017 and now has multiple brick-and-mortar locations in Southern California. 

Bubbly Hall (6031 Central College Road) recently announced a diverse lineup of food vendors that will fill the forthcoming food hall in New Albany. They include: Afra Grill (fast-casual African), Beyond the Brix (hot dogs), Fay’s Crepes (sweet and savory crepes), Levant Elevated Mediterranean Eatery (gyros and more), Solo Merengues Bakery (desserts), Tortilla Street Food (Mexican), Willowbeez Soulveg (vegan soul food) and newcomer Rocoto. 

Lucas Atwood, the owner of Snapshots Lounge in Granville, is opening a new restaurant on the campus of The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology, in downtown Newark. The restaurant, named Snapshots Social, will be located at 50 S. Second St. Atwood opened his first restaurant, Snapshots Lounge, in 2011, followed by Newark’s Snapshots Coffee & Kitchen in 2019. Atwood’s newest restaurant will offer breakfast, brunch and lunch. It is tentatively scheduled to open in mid-July. 

A new Korean and Japanese restaurant named Hashi is coming soon to 128 E. Broadway in Granville, formerly Moe’s BBQ. The space is currently being renovated and is expected to open by summer. The Newark Advocate has more here.  

The family-run pizzeria Eagles Pizza is celebrating 50 years in New Albany. Known for its cracker-thin crust and popular taco pizza, Eagles is located at 2 N. High St. The Dispatch has more here


The Short North cocktail bar Mouton (954 N. High St.) has reopened after a lengthy break that started in December, prompted by safety concerns amid the pandemic. 

Taft's Brewpourium (440 W. Broad St.) announced on social media that the Franklinton brewpub will reopen Wednesday, April 28, after hitting pause because of COVID-19 concerns. 

Novak’s Tavern & Patio (475 N. High St.) has also reopened after a 3-month hiatus because of the pandemic.
