Food News: Henmick sets opening date; The Dry Mill to become city’s first sober bar

Openings & Announcements 

Henmick Farm & Brewery has the green light and will celebrate its grand opening during the weekend of July 17. The scenic brewery and taproom is located on the Sheets family farm at 4380 N. Old State Road, about seven miles outside of downtown Delaware. Offering ample seating inside and out, Henmick will offer up to 10 house brews at the start, as well as draft cocktails featuring local spirits. Head brewer Zach Cline recently joined Henmick after a five-year run as Rockmill Brewery’s head brewer. 

Columbus is expected to get its first sober bar — a watering hole dedicated to non-alcoholic cocktails and drinks. David Payne and Colin Thomas, two friends who are in the recovery community, announced this week that they plan to open The Dry Mill soon, though the location is still be determined. 

Del Taco, a taco chain founded in 1964 in California, opened its third Ohio location this month. The new fast-food spot is located at 4720 E. Main St. in Whitehall. Two other locations in Bellefontaine and Circleville recently opened.  

Pickerington has a new breakfast option called Fresh Donut. Located at 1130 Hill Road N., the small, independently owned doughnut shop also sells breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches.  

An Indian restaurant called Atithi Indian Cuisine is coming soon to Powell, replacing Saffron Indian Grill at 230 W. Olentangy St. 

Temporary Closings 

Having weathered the pandemic, the Filipino restaurant Bonifacio announced on Facebook this week that it will temporarily close for renovations beginning on Sunday, July 4. The Grandview restaurant at 1577 King Ave., which has been operating as takeout- and patio-only for more than a year, will reopen its dining room in August. 


The Brown Bag Deli’s second location inside BrewDog Short North (1175 N. High St.) has permanently closed, according to an employee at the flagship German Village location. It had opened last fall. The deli’s German Village location is still going strong at 898 Mohawk St. and recently celebrated 17 years in business.
