Openings & Announcements

Fay’s Crêpes will officially open at noon on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 3951 Easton Square Place East, next to The Body Shop. Owner Fayrus Abdi first opened her crêpe shop at Polaris Fashion Place, selling a decadent mix of savory and sweet crêpes. In May, she announced that the shop would be relocating. Fay’s Crêpes is also set to join Bubbly Hall when it opens in New Albany later this year.

Josie’s Pizza, the longtime Franklinton pizzeria that closed this year, is making a comeback, according to an announcement on Josie’s Facebook page. Josie’s Pizza, which is not to be confused with Josie’s Hilltop Pizza, closed in January at 952 W. Broad St. when owner Joyce Catalfina retired. Now her son, Jason, is planning to reopen the pizza joint at 894 W. Broad St., next to Tommy’s Diner and just down the street from Josie’s original location.

Closings

Torchy’s Tacos' stay in Columbus was short-lived, but it may be back. The taco spot opened a ghost kitchen here in April at 1282 Essex Ave., but announced this week that it has ended its carry-out and delivery service. However, the Austin-based company said it is seeking a brick-and-mortar location in Columbus.

Events

Celebrating its 10th year, the Columbus Food Truck Festival returns Aug. 21-22 at a new location, the Franklin County Fairgrounds (4100 Columbia St., Hilliard). Originally set to take place along the Scioto Mile, the event is relocating because of permitting delays related to the pandemic. In addition, this year’s event will be ticketed to prevent overcrowding. The festival will highlight more than 50 food trucks from Ohio and the Midwest. A few of the confirmed vendors include Amish Country Donuts (Sugarcreek, OH), Barroluco Argentine Comfort Food, Fork in Nigeria, Joseppi’s Pizza on Wheels, La Orangette (Cincinnati), Lyle’s Crepes (Toledo), Machete Taqueria, Reel Smoke, S.E.A. Cuisine (Cincinnati) and Shrimp Lips Seafood. Tickets ($5 for adults) are now available at columbusfoodtruckfest.com
