Openings & Announcements 

The Pit BBQ Grille quietly opened a third location recently at North Market Bridge Park (6750 Longshore St.). The Pit’s offerings include pulled pork barbecue, brisket, Polish Boy sandwiches and side such as greens and mac ’n’ cheese. A grand opening is set for Labor Day weekend.

Homestead Beer Co. is set to open a spin-off location called Homestead Public House and Barrel Room at Newark’s revitalized Cherry Valley Hotel (2299 Cherry Valley Road SE). The grand opening takes place on Friday, Aug. 27. The new spot will offer Homestead’s craft beer as well as a full lineup of craft cocktails, wine, seltzers and a small food menu. In addition to the new public house at Cherry Valley, Homestead operates the Delaware Public House and a taproom in Heath. 


According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Old Bag of Nails Pub and its sister business, Pour House Tavern, are both closing at the Creekside development in Gahanna. The last day of business will be Sunday, Aug. 29. 

According to a post on its Facebook page, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt has closed for good at 7545 Sawmill Road in Dublin after 11 years in business. 


Save the date for Land-Grant Brewing’s Massive Day on Sunday, Sept. 5. The day-long celebration of the Columbus Crew, featuring live music, Crew giveaways and more, will take place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Land-Grant's beer garden (424 W. Town St.). 

This year's addition of the Columbus Fiery Foods Festival has been canceled because of the resurgence of COVID-19, according to the event website. It was originally set to take place this weekend in Downtown Columbus. The festival celebrating spicy food is expected to return next summer.
