Dublin native Samantha Strange, owner of The Cheesecake Girl, is preparing to open her first standalone brick-and-mortar this week at 4345 W. Dublin-Granville Road. Customers can expect sweets such as mini cheesecakes, cheesecake “tacos,” cookie sandwiches and more. The grand opening takes place 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Strange founded her cheesecake business as a home bakery in 2017 before opening a commercial kitchen and joining Hilliard’s Center Street Market (5354 Center St.) in 2019. The Cheesecake Girl will wrap up its stint as the pop-up vendor at Budd Dairy Food Hall on Sept. 12.
The Silo, a new restaurant/bar concept from the Grow Restaurants group, is now open in in the Brewery District next to its sister restaurant Harvest Bar + Kitchen. The new spot features 24 beers on tap, large garage doors that open onto a patio and a menu that focuses on shareable small plates such as chips and salsa, beef cheek poutine, Korean steam buns, pizzettas and more. The Silo is located at 940 S. Front St.
Chocolate Café will debut its second location, dubbed Chocolate Café Express, on Wednesday, Sept. 15. The new spot for lunch, sweets and coffee fills the former Dough Mama South space at 730 S. High St. The café will be open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.
Tickets are on sale now for the 2021 Mix & Shake, taking place Friday, Oct. 1, at the historic North Market (59 Spruce St.). Held in partnership with the Ohio Distiller’s Guild, this spirited event features cocktails, food, live music and more. The $50 admission ($60 at the door) gets you four cocktail tastings, a food voucher and access to an outdoor tiki bar. Participating distilleries include Cleveland Whiskey, Echo Spirits Distilling Co., High Bank Distillery, Middle West Spirits and others. The revelry kicks off at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
