Food News: Saddleberk debuts at North Market Bridge Park; Josie’s reopens in Franklinton

Saddleberk, a new butcher, grocer and restaurant concept, debuts today at Dublin’s North Market Bridge Park (6750 Longshore St.). Saddleberk will serve as a one-stop-shop for butcher cuts, deli meats, produce, pantry items and fresh flowers. The new merchant’s space also houses a chef-driven restaurant led by executive chef Jack Bennett. In addition to carrying Saddleberk’s own Berkshire pork, the restaurant and butcher will carry cuts from other meat producers. “We have worked hard to create a concept that brings all of these components together,” said Dave Rigo, Saddleberk’s CEO, in a press release. “Though we are thrilled to showcase Saddleberk’s high quality pork products, we are excited to feature other brands and producers to create an unparalleled market experience at Bridge Park.”
A staple of Franklinton has resumed slinging pizzas. Josie’s Pizza, which closed in February at 952 W. Broad St. after 62 years, reopened this weekend at a new address, 894 W. Broad St. The family-owned pizzeria is only open for carryout and delivery to start. The Franklinton pizzeria is not to be confused with Josie’s Hilltop Pizza (3205 W. Broad St.), which is under different management.
In partnership with the Ohio Craft Brewers Association, more than 150 participating breweries across the state are poised to celebrate the second edition of Ohio Pint Day on Tuesday, Sept. 28. On Tuesday, limited-edition pint glasses, designed by artist Jessica Greving, will be available for purchase exclusively at participating taprooms. Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Taste of the Market Gala at the North Market Bridge Park (6750 Longshore St.). The event takes place 7-11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, serving as both the grand opening and the 1-year anniversary celebration of the market.
