Openings & Announcements

Lauren Culley and Jeff Excell, the dynamic duo behind Fox in the Snow Café, are ready to unveil their new sandwich shop in the Short North. Icarus will celebrate its grand opening at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at 15 E. Second Ave. (formerly Laughlin’s Bakery). The opening menu features eight sandwiches, including a turkey club, meatball sub and roasted mushroom sandwich — all on house-made bread. Other menu items include house-made potato chips with onion dip, fresh lemonade and soft serve ice cream. Check out the Icarus menu here.

Cara Mangini's Little Eater is back, though not quite as we remember it. The veggie-focused eatery announced last week that it’s now accepting catering orders at littleeater.com. According to Little Eater’s website, the company is also working to launch a delivery service for individual customers. After opening its first location inside the historic North Market in February 2015, Little Eater expanded to Clintonville in 2017 with its first standalone restaurant. The latter closed in September 2019, and the North Market location shuttered a year later amid the pandemic.

Hoagie City, a new Philadelphia-style deli, is now slinging sandwiches in Hilliard. Located at 3870 Main St., the carryout-only spot serves cheesesteaks, cold hoagies, fresh-cut fries and more.

The owners of The Daily Growler are set to open a new bar in Italian Village. Although The Daily Growler’s three Central Ohio locations operate primarily as beer bars and growler fill stations, The Daily Bar (883 N. Fourth St.) will expand its offerings to cocktails and wine.

Tucked away in a yellow building between Easton and North Linden, Catrina Mexican Cuisine recently opened at 2785 Ferris Road, serving authentic fare such as tacos, empanadas, tortas, bistec ala Mexicana and more.

There’s good news for fans of Bonifacio’s traditional kamayan dinners. After hitting pause because of the pandemic, the Grandview restaurant's Boodle Night dinners (family-style Filipino meals served atop banana leaves) have returned on Thursdays and Sundays. Make your reservation here.

An “immersive cocktail experience” inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” has landed in Columbus. This cocktail pop-up event, dubbed The Alice, is taking place through the end of the year at Harrisons on Kenny (4510 Kenny Road). Tickets are available here.

For Sale

The 157-year-old Delaware eatery Bun’s Restaurant (14 W. Winter St.) is up for sale, according to The Columbus Dispatch. Owner Vasili Konstantinidis told the paper he’s ready to retire after running the iconic restaurant for more than 20 years. You can read the listing here.
