Openings & Announcements

FishBurger made its debut last week at 1808 E. Livingston Ave. on the city’s East Side. The new eatery from owners Randy Keyes and Demetrius Howard (aka Soop) serves fried salmon burgers, classic hamburgers, Nashville hot chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries and more.

Locally owned Mmelo Boutique Confections just launched a fall/winter pop-up at Polaris Fashion Place (1500 Polaris Parkway), not far from its Polaris production facility. The pop-up, located on the first level across from the Apple store, will sell the confectioners’ signature Marshmmelos, tea cakes, chocolate buttons and other packaged sweets. Owner and head confectionary chef Michelle Allen operated a brick-and-mortar shop near the North Market for several years before it shut down in May 2020. “This was a prime opportunity for Mmelo to once again offer our confections directly to our customers in a retail environment,” Allen said in a press release.

The Getaway Brewing Co. and Antiques on High are getting innovative with bar food. The Seventh Son siblings have launched charcuterie vending machines at their respective taprooms in Dublin and the Brewery District. The vending machines offer all the makings of a cheese and charcuterie board, including cheeses, cured meats, tinned seafood, pretzels and crackers. Some of the local vendors featured include North Country Charcuterie, Saddleberk Farms, Black Radish Creamery and The Butcher & Grocer. Individual prices range from $2 to $24.

SLAB Kitchen is now open inside Eastside Brewing Co. at 1421 Davidson Drive in Reynoldsburg. The new eatery is the first brick-and-mortar home for the creators of SLAB food truck. Open Tuesday through Sunday, SLAB Kitchen serves barbecue baby back ribs, burgers, wings and sides to compliment Eastside brews such as Sunrise Golden Ale and Oktoberfest Märzen.

The three-day grand opening of The Sauce Boiling Seafood Express kicks off at noon on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 109 N. Hamilton Road in Gahanna. The seafood-boil-in-a-bag restaurant is the fourth location in Ohio; the others are in Akron and Cleveland. The Sauce’s menu consists of crab, shrimp, mussels, lobster or crawfish, as well as vegan options.

Silo, the new Brewery District bar and restaurant from Grow Restaurants, has already closed to the public because of staffing issues, according to a post on the business’ Instagram account. Located at 940 S. Front St. next to its sister restaurant, Harvest, Silo will operate as a private event space until further notice.
