Openings & Announcements

Kitchen Social opens its second location today (Thursday, Nov. 4), just days before the company’s second anniversary. The new restaurant is located at 6791 Longshore St., Ste. 110, in Bridge Park. Founded by four alums of Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, Kitchen Social got its start two years ago this Saturday at 8954 Lyra Drive in Polaris. The restaurant’s wide-ranging menu features pizzas, burgers, tacos, entrée salads, seafood, steaks and brunch.

Cocktails will soon be flowing at Addella’s on Oak (1485 Oak St.). Addella’s, which is licensed for beer and wine sales but not liquor, was among several Central Ohio businesses with liquor options on the ballot during Tuesday’s election. Addella’s was able to secure approval for both liquor sales and Sunday sales. Other businesses that won approval to sell alcohol include the forthcoming Mexican restaurant Chapala in Worthington and Bubbly Hall, which is under construction in New Albany.

Some of Columbus’ top bartenders will face off this Sunday, Nov. 7, during the second annual Bartender Brawl for All competition, organized by Saint Russell Productions. Attendees will get to sample cocktails from the contenders and vote for the people’s choice winner. The event takes place Sunday at 92.9’s Big Room Bar at 1036 S. Front St. Get your tickets here.

Construction is underway at Understory, the forthcoming Clintonville bar and restaurant from Wolf’s Ridge Brewing. Co-owner Bob Szuter estimates that the bar will be ready to open sometime this month.

Chef Moves

Watershed Kitchen & Bar executive chef Jack Moore told Columbus Monthly this week that he plans to leave the restaurant at the end of the year to pursue his hot sauce business, Black Cap. Moore has been executive chef at Watershed Distillery’s restaurant since its debut in January 2017. The restaurant was closed for more than a year because of the pandemic and reopened in June. Read more about Moore’s plans here.

Chef Jonathan Olson is on the move once again. The former opening chef at The Keep Kitchen & Liquor Bar and The Royce Gastropub in Polaris is now leading the kitchen at Goodale Station (77 E. Nationwide Blvd.), located atop the Canopy by Hilton hotel.
