Food News: Dulce Vida adds fourth location; Oodles closes on Neil Avenue

Openings & Announcements 

A fourth location of the Mexican ice cream shop Dulce Vida Ice Cream Factory is now open at 7370 Sawmill Road, joining a strip mall that includes Los Guachos Taqueria, Anna’s Greek Cuisine and Sunflower Chinese Restaurant. Dulce Vida specializes in a large variety of ice creams, as well as paletas, mangonadas, tamales, Tostilocos, walking tacos and more. Its other locations include: 1127 N. High St., 4201 W. Broad St. and 2400 Home Acre Drive. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Home Acre Drive location will soon relocate to a bigger space at 6144 Cleveland Ave.  

Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse is opening Wednesday, Feb. 9, inside the dual-brand Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites Columbus-Easton at 3600 Morse Road, near Easton Town Center. The Iowa-based steakhouse chain, which has 13 other locations around the U.S., features a wide-ranging menu, with entrée salads, burgers, pastas and steaks. View the menu here.  

Worthington Farmers Market kicked off its indoor season over the weekend. The market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday in February and March at The Shops at Worthington Place (7227 N. High St.). Visit worthingtonfarmersmarket.com for more information. 

Another Korean fried chicken chain has landed in Columbus. Mad For Chicken, which has branches in New York and Texas, is now operating out of the cloud kitchen at 1282 Essex Ave. The menu features crabmeat salad, kimchi fries, scallion fried chicken and more. 

Closings 

In signage posted on the door, the owners of Oodles Noodle & Dumpling Bar announced that they have closed the 765 Neil Ave. location permanently, citing the labor shortage. 

Events 

Seventh Son Brewing (1101 N. Fourth St.) will host Roshambo 2022, a non-sanctioned, rock paper scissors tournament at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20. All registration proceeds will benefit Service!, a Columbus-based organization that supports Central Ohio’s hospitality workers. The event will feature prizes, awards and specialty drinks.
