Chapala Mexican Grill recently made its debut at 530 High St. in Worthington. The restaurant offers a large menu that includes enchiladas suizas, carne asada, carnitas, fajitas, fish tacos and much more. The Morse Road restaurant Namaste Indo-Nepali Cuisine has added a second location, this one in Gahanna at 1307 Stoneridge Drive. The new restaurant replaces Himalayan Grille. Namaste’s original location at 1279 Morse Road, in the same shopping center as Saraga International Grocery, opened in 2013. Both locations offer a weekend buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Diners didn’t have to wait long to find out what will replace Arepazo in downtown Gahanna, which closes Thursday, Feb. 24. Marlow’s Cheesesteaks, a food truck that launched in May, is set to take over the space at 93 N. High St. in Gahanna. Marlow’s serves Philly-style cheesesteaks and water ice, an Italian ice-style treat popular in the City of Brotherly Love. The restaurant’s target opening date is April 30.

The modern Indian restaurant Rooh (685 N. High St.) is launching a new dinner series dubbed “First Sunday Feast,” in which Rooh will partner with a guest restaurant on a one-time-only menu. First up is a four-course collaboration dinner with Highbank Distillery on March 6. Phyllis Ann’s Family Recipe, a retailer offering pre-made mixes for cakes, dips and more, is set to open Saturday, Feb. 26, at Polaris Fashion Place (1500 Polaris Pkwy.). The shop will be located on the upper level near JCPenney. The grand opening event takes place 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, with free swag bags, product samples, door prizes and a DJ.

Local distillery Echo Spirits Distilling Co. (985 W. Sixth Ave.) took home some serious hardware from the recent Berlin International Spirits Competition (BISC). A panel of judges named Echo Spirits the USA Flavored Rum Distillery of the Year. In addition, the Fifth by Northwest distillery earned the following awards: a gold medal for its Echo Spirits Pineapple Rum; silver for both Echo Spirits Straight Rye Whiskey and Echo Spirits Rum; and bronze for Echo Spirits Genever. “The judges truly loved our pineapple rum. Not only did it win a gold medal, but it earned us the honor of being named the best flavored rum distillery in the USA, even though we only made one entry in the category,” said head distiller Nikhil Sharoff in a press release. “Our pineapple rum was one of our hardest spirits to get right, but that was all worthwhile.”

On Wednesday, Lemonshark Poke & Makai Grill announced that its Easton location has closed at 3969 Merchants Row. The Hawaiian-inspired restaurant opened a year ago today.
