Openings & Announcements

Gatto’s Pizza announced Monday morning that it is relocating after 70 years at the same Clintonville location. The new address is 3420 Indianola Ave., the former home of McCarthy’s Wildflower Café, which closed for good last September. Owner Tony DeRubertis told theClintonville Spotlight that he had purchased the Indianola Avenue building, which is much larger than Gatto's current location, has air conditioning and features a patio. The pizzeria has been serving thin, Columbus-style pies out of 2928 N. High St. since 1952. Gatto’s is expected to relocate this spring.

Crafted Culture Brewing Co. shut down its Gahanna taproom at 505 Morrison Road. Owner Anthony “Sizzle” Perry announced the decision on Instagram, explaining that there were capacity issues with the building as the brewery was approaching its one-year anniversary in the space. Perry also told Columbus Business First that he and a silent partner had a disagreement about the brewery’s future and agreed to an amicable split. Perry pledges to hold pop-ups around Central Ohio while the brewery is searching for a new home.

A new food trailer called Ciao! Italian Eatery is expected to open in early March. Friends and co-owners Angelo Fagnan and Adam Sterling are behind the new venture, which promises dishes such as lasagna, chicken Parmesan, risotto and sandwiches featuring rolls from Auddino’s Italian Bakery. Check out the Ciao! menu here.

In the press release last week, Athens-based brewery Jackie O's announced that its much-delayed Downtown Columbus taproom is now under construction at 171 N. Fourth. Jackie O’s on Fourth will feature a 4,500-square-foot brewery, 5,000 square feet of public space (including a small bar and retail shop) and a multitiered, 8,000-square-foot patio. The Jackie O’s carryout beer store will remain open throughout construction. Jackie O's is aiming at a September opening for the indoor bar and patio space. Read more about Jackie O’s big plans here
