Food News: Mikey’s joins Olde Towne East; Destination Donuts opens Clintonville storefront

Mikey’s Late Night Slice soft opened its newest location this week, at 892 Oak St. in Olde Towne East. This location – Mikey’s sixth in Columbus – makes its home in the former Yellow Brick Pizza. Yellow Brick vacated the space earlier this year as it makes the move to the new East Market, set to open at the end of this month.

Destination Donuts opened its Clintonville storefront last week. The donut shop, which specializes in vegan pastries, opened at 3519 N. High St. in the former Colonial Candy Shoppe space. Destination Donuts announced the move last fall when it closed its North Market stall.

Hot Chicken Takeover celebrated eight years of slinging Nashville-style fried chicken last week with the addition of chicken tenders and French fries to its menu.

Covington, Kentucky-based taco joint Agave & Rye announced last week that, in addition to its planned location on Grandview Avenue, it will also open a store at 479 N. High St. in the Short North. The corner space, which sits across from the Convention Center and a block east of North Market, was the long-time home to the Japanese Steakhouse, and was briefly a Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.

This week, Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse unveiled a newly renovated dining room, the Club Room, which adds 2,000 square feet to the Arena District eatery.

A new coffee trailer called Catbird Coffee debuted in recent weeks, making appearances at a couple of different businesses. Housed in an Airstream trailer, Catbird serves drip coffee, espresso drinks, tea, biscuits and other snacks.
