A soul food restaurant and music venue, CJ’s Soulfood, is making its debut Saturday, April 16, at 1262 E. Powell Road near Polaris Fashion Place. The menu ranges from starters such as smoked collards dip and fried okra to entrées such as barbecued rib tips and fried chicken.

It’s the final Saturday for the Clintonville Farmers Market’s winter market, located indoors at the Ohio History Center (800 E. 17th Ave.). The market takes place from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, April16. The weekly farmers' market will start back up on Saturday, April 30, when it returns outdoors to its usual location: North High Street at Dunedin Road.

Temporary Closings

The Roosters at 2454 E. Dublin-Granville Road has temporarily shut down after a pair of shootings occurred at the restaurant, one of them fatal, within two months of each other. An 18-year-old man was fatally shot inside the restaurant in February, and this week a member of the waitstaff suffered a gunshot wound to abdomen. She is expected to survive.

The owners of Lineage Brewing announced this week that they would be closing the Clintonville brewpub on April 24 after seven years in business. (We’ll especially miss the brewpub’s delicious hand pies.) The brewpub space, located at 2971 N. High St., already has a new occupant. Combustion Brewery & Taproom will take over the space this summer. This Saturday, Combustion celebrates the fifth anniversary of its Pickerington taproom at 80 W. Church St., Ste. 101. That location will remain open as well.
