World Cup preview: Your guide to watch parties

Do as Frankie says: Watch the World Cup with friends or strangers-who'll-soon-be-friends. Soccer's never more exciting than when surrounded by throngs of the intoxicated. We've rounded up three of the biggest watch-parties, though lord knows dozens of other Central Ohio watering holes will show matches throughout the month-long tournament.

Columbus Crew

Address: Fado Irish Pub, 4022 Townsfair Way, Easton

Open: 11 a.m. each day of the tournament.

Drink specials: Limited-edition gold Budweiser bottles discounted by the bucket ($25/per), featured $4 pints include Harp, Strongbow, Hoegaarden (also "bundled" with apps or sandwiches at reduced price), weekday happy hours from 5-7 p.m.

Food: Special match-day menu, featuring $5 apps and burgers, soups, flatbreads, sliders, etc.

Other perks: Huge tents, roped off parking lot able to accommodate 3,000 fans, family friendly, futsal tournament, radar kick, soccer tennis, interviews with Josh Wolf, Frankie Hejduk and Gregg Berhalter, giveaways including koozies, T-shirts, flags and more.

Drink specials: $3 Heineken drafts, limited-edition 16-ounce World Cup Bud/Bud Light aluminum bottles during U.S. games, Sam Adams draft specials, $4 Jim Beam

Food: Slamwich Bros. Food Truck during U.S. games. Other trucks during the tournament.

Other perks: Sam Adams will give away World Cup swag and U.S. soccer jerseys during U.S. games.

American Outlaws Columbus

Address: 4th St. Bar and Grill, 1810 N. Fourth St., Campus

Open: For every World Cup match; special night-before party for U.S. game at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 15

Drink specials: Weekday happy hour specials (half-off); beers from competing countries

Food: Food trucks

Other perks: Night-before party includes two large tents in backlot, 70-inch outdoor TV mounted on balcony, beer truck, a special guest and flag drop, raffles for every game, with prizes including U.S. jerseys, Homage gear, soccer balls and more.
