Things We Love: Picks from Maren Roth of Rowe Boutique
If there has ever been a self-made woman, it’s Rowe Boutique owner Maren Roth. The founder of the upscale women’s fashion boutique in the Short North opened the store after stints in both Los Angeles and New York City. Since her return, Rowe has established itself as one of the city’s top shopping destinations. If you’d like to experience the inspiration that comes when meeting Roth, you can have a cocktail with her at Rowe’s Annual Botox Event from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 12. If you would like to learn about things she loves, you can read below.
My store manager Sarah and her boyfriend taught me how to rock climb not too long ago, and I think it’s so much fun. He works at Vertical Adventures in Worthington, and I’ve gone a couple of times now. It’s a really good, challenging workout.
The “Delirium” trilogy
I was going on vacation and I realized that I completely forgot to get myself something to read on the beach, so I grabbed one of those middle-schooler cheesy romance novels from the airport, and it was so good. The book, “Delirium,” is part of a series and it kind of reads similar to the “Hunger Games” or “Divergent” series. It’s about this society that outlaws love, and it’s written by Lauren Oliver. It’s corny, but I love it.
I love music; I go to a show at least once a month. The show that I’m most excited to see that’s coming up has to be Hozier’s show at the LC Pavilion June 16. I missed him when he was in town a few weeks ago, so I can’t wait.
Speaking of concerts, this was probably my favorite one of all time. They are simply my favorites. It’s so cliché, but I love the song “Landslide” — it’s just perfect — and their song “Never Going Back Again.” I’ve seen them twice.
I do a lot of yoga, but there really is no release for me that can come close to the relief I get from the intensity of running. Sometimes it gets hard to keep it up and I start to feel a little over it, but it’s still my favorite workout. There are really great apps for your phone you can use to mix things up. One app I like is called Popsugar Fitness, and it gives you all these different intervals and things to focus on while you’re running so you can keep things interesting.
I hate to use the word “trends” because I don’t feel like I follow trends at all; I’m all about taking something and helping people find their ways to wear it. My favorite thing about helping clients is helping people interpret trends for themselves. That being said, a couple things I’m loving that we are getting in the store are the wide-leg flare jeans and colorful tassels and pom-poms.
