Columbus is officially one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.

Well, we guess the secret is out.

According to new 2014 population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, Columbus posted the 13th largest population gain in the past year. The only other city outside of the South or West that cracked the Top 15? New York City.

Half of the cities in the Top 10 of gains were in Texas, which is another reason to be glad you live in Columbus.

Columbus is now the 15th most populous city in America with 835,957 residents - and the Metro Columbus area comes in just a bit shy of the 2 million mark with 1,994,536 people after gaining nearly 100,000 residents since the 2010 census.

Here you can listen to NPR's report, complete with the usual incredulous, "Columbus, Ohio? Yes, Columbus, Ohio."

We're a humble city, America, but maybe you can stop adding "Ohio" every time you say "Columbus" now?
