Crew season preview: Seven game-day bars to catch Crew SC

Zauber Brewing

If you can't attend every game in person, you can still celebrate at these seven spots, all of which show Crew games and offer solid food and drink options.

Zauber Brewing, Grandview

Zauber's German beer hall taproom is already well-known for showing world soccer matches. Enjoy its German- and Belgian-style brews during the game. Sip on a smooth Nitro Portergeist or get amped up with a hoppy Bruzer Belgian IPA. Better yet? Pair either with a Cubano sandwich or chorizo nachos from Explorers Club.

Land-Grant Brewing, Franklinton

Sit under the rows of Land-Grant university pennants and sample the brewer's ever-growing roster of beers. It's pretty much mandatory you sip its Glory American wheat ale, which is brewed and canned specifically for the Columbus Crew season. Grab food from a rotating lineup of food trucks, including Ajumama, Challah, OH! Burgers, Ninja Bowl and Aromaku.

Brewcadia, Short North

With Brewcadia, you've got two levels of fun during Crew games. Upstairs is the arcade with classic video games, Skee-Ball and plenty of beer on tap. Downstairs you'll find brewpub grub and more beer at Barley's Brewing.

Temperance Row Brewing, Westerville

Temperance Row sits in Uptown Westerville, the historic epicenter of the temperance movement that led to Prohibition. English-style brews like the Scofflaw Scottish ale and Two Pistols IPA pair nicely with deli sandwiches from Uptown Deli, which serves up eats at the front of the space.

Old North Arcade, Old North

What's not to like about watching Crew games at Old North Arcade? It offers soccer + beer + cocktails + video games. If the game gets slow, you've got pinball, foosball, air hockey and old-school game consoles to keep you entertained.

Smokehouse Brewing, Grandview

Smokehouse shows plenty of games on its numerous big screens. Kick back with smoked wings, sauerkraut balls and St. Louis spare ribs, and order a pint or two of Centennial IPA or Robert Burns Scottish Export. Keep an eye on the special beers that are cask-conditioned or served in the firkin or the nitro tap.

Big Room Bar, Brewery District

To go with your Crew-watching, the “Bar with a Radio Problem” serves a greatest hits menu of red pepper hummus, chili fries, hot dogs and flatbread BLTs paired with beer and cocktails. If the night is right, you can catch a Tuesday wing night, Wednesday taco night or guest food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays.
