Things We Love: Picks from Matt McGarrity of Eagle Lock Company
Matt McGarrity, co-owner of Eagle Lock Company, has been able to observe and enjoy the craft beer market as it has grown from garages in small towns to specialty bars and breweries in major cities. He joined his fellow entrepreneurs in launching a company that salutes the spirit and good taste of true beer aficionados, manufacturing a bottle opener worthy of the “craft” label. Eagle Cap-Off will be hosting a demo event at Grain + Grape in Bexley at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, as well as raffling off T-shirts and a trio of openers. Here are a few things McGarrity loves.
Pins Mechanical Company and 16-Bit Bar + Arcade
The interactive bar scene is a game changer. Visiting either of these spots is nostalgic in so many ways. It feels like you're in college again, regardless of your age. It's just fun!
I bought my first Homage T-shirt nine years ago at an OSU/Navy football game. I have a bit of a problem now.
My current home. I love everything about this little city — the people, the schools, the trees and especially The Top. Plus it's 10 minutes from everything, so there's no reason to leave!
I'm always on a never-ending search for the next best IPA. I'm obsessed — obsessed! — with the product, but even more the hunt, the stories, the artisans and the resurrection of small-batch beer.
We're from Philly originally and moved here from Dallas, Texas. Columbus was the best-kept secret. We fell in love with the city immediately and never want to leave. This must be true for so many others. The growth and improvement over the last nine years is incredible. Clearly, I'm a big fan.
Uuni Wood-Fired Pizza Oven
This is the coolest pizza oven ever. I love to entertain, and having people on the patio for beers and homemade wood-fired pizza is my thing.
