After 10 years, the marriage between Billy Farrell (Aidan Kelly) and wife Breda (Eileen Walsh) has assumed a quiet desperation. Breda longs for the intimacy they once shared, hoping a weight loss will reignite their spark, while Billy leaves her home alone for his friends at the pub and the allure of a younger woman.

As they prepare for a big night out for their anniversary, the eventual outcome is easy to guess. And highlights are as scarce as surprises, despite director Declan Recks's efforts to amp up Eugene O'Brien's adaptation of his own play with a camera that sways artfully and pans portentously.

Only the lead performers, especially Walsh, rise from the film's doldrums to leave a mark on those watching.
