Columbus Alive

As part of its Docs & Bagels series, the Columbus Jewish Film Festival presents the story of a British heiress who befriended jazz great Thelonious Monk in the 1950s. Nika Rothschild, a married mother of five, left home and headed to New York in search of the man who wrote "'Round Midnight." Writer-director Hannah Rothschild, Nika's great-niece, tells the little-known story of what happened once she found him. Besides original recordings from Monk and Charlie Parker, the film features Helen Mirren reading letters written by Rothschild. So that's the doc part, and Blocks will provide the bagels.
