TV review: Missing

Jesse Tigges, Columbus Alive

Remember the movie "Taken," starring Liam Neeson? Well, ABC is attempting to turn that movie - about a retired CIA agent who tracks down his kidnapped daughter in Europe - into a TV series, only with some ill-advised changes.

First, replacing (a surprisingly awesome) Neeson with Ashley Judd isn't a good idea. She's a fine actress, but she's not capable of pulling off the hardcore CIA killer part. She also occasionally bounces into David Caruso levels of camp, minus the sunglasses.

The other glaring mistake is that a simple "I'm going to kick ass until I get my kid back" premise doesn't work as a long-form TV narrative. I got bored about midway through the pilot; I can't imagine trudging through a whole season.
