Staff Pick: Shock Around the Clock horror movie marathon features outstanding lineup and even better setting

Brad Keefe, Columbus Alive

If you've never experienced a 24-hour movie marathon, you're depriving yourself of a unique experience much as the participants are depriving themselves of sleep. With the 5th annual Ohio 24-hour horror movie marathon Shock Around the Clock, you get an outstanding slate of flicks made all the better in this setting.

Some old films are seeing new life with updated digital presentations, including 1941's "The Wolf Man" featuring legends Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi, and the de facto scariest movie of all time, "The Exorcist."

In zombie-tastic news, the Drexel will be re-animating its 35-milimeter projector for some rare-on-film treats, including Italian fright maestro Dario Argento's "Suspiria," "Phantasm" and "Candyman."

You'll also get Rob Zombie's witchy latest, "The Lords of Salem" and my top movie of 2012 (seriously, look it up), the genre-twisting "The Cabin in the Woods." And more.

Tickets for the whole affair are $37 in advance, $40 at the door.
