Movies: Other new movies opening this week in Columbus

“Gone Girl”

There were no Columbus critic screenings of David Fincher’s hotly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s missing wife novel “Gone Girl,” but it seems like it can’t miss. I’m still hoping for the rest of his “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” trilogy.

“Left Behind”

For a very different adaptation of a hugely popular novel, we have the second version of the Evangelical Apocalypse series “Left Behind.” With Nicolas Cage stepping into Kirk Cameron’s shoes as Rayford Steele (!), this seems like another kind of can’t-miss.

“20,000 Days on Earth”

Also new this week is this stylish and fascinating Nick Cave documentary. For die-hard fans of Nick Cave, all I need to say is “it’s awesome,” but even if you don’t own Murder Ballads (you should), it’s a fascinating look at the artistic process. Full review at columbusalive.com (3 1/2 stars)
