“Foxcatcher”

This real-life tale of millionaire John du Pont’s sponsorship of a wrestling team for the 1988 Olympics has gotten dramatic raves for a pair not known for drama (Steve Carell and Channing Tatum).

“Annie”

An update to the much-loved musical features the adorable “Beasts of the Southern Wild” breakout Quvenzhané Wallis in the title role and Jamie Foxx as her wealthy benefactor.

“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”

With a typically all-star cast (including the late Robin Williams), the Ben Stiller-starring series takes on “The Hobbit” for the title of this week’s franchise that went back to the well too many times.

“Free the Nipple”

Based on a true story of a group of young activists and their movement to decriminalize the female body through staged topless protest. Unfortunately, it overshadows its main point in a self-celebratory focus on activism itself. Opens at the Gateway. (1 1/2 stars)
