“The Wedding Ringer”

Stand-up comic Kevin Hart and “Daily Show” alum Josh Gad star in a comedy about a socially awkward man who uses a “best man for hire” service for his wedding. It’s “Wedding Crashers” meets “Hitch” (or at least I’m sure that’s how it was pitched).

Chris Hemsworth stars in a timely thriller about cyberterrorism. A new movie from director Michael Mann (“Heat,” “The Insider”) would usually be cause for celebration, but a January release can be a bad sign.

Limited screenings

“Force Majeure”

This Swedish import about a family crisis during a ski trip has been getting buzz and critical love ever since its debut at Cannes. The Wexner Center is the first to bring it to Columbus with showings Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

“The Host”

If you saw South Korean director Joon-ho Bong’s excellent English-language debut “Snowpiercer,” you should check out his earlier film, one of the great monster movies of the past decade. Limited screenings at the Gateway.
