New in theaters

I was super-excited about “District 9” director Neill Blomkamp’s new robot movie that looks like “Robocop” meets “Short Circuit” and features Ninja and Yolandi from Die Antwoord, but the fact that it didn’t screen for critics is usually a sign to get less-excited. Sigh.

“Unfinished Business”

This European business-trip-gone-wild comedy has a real “Hangover” feel to it, but Tom Wilkinson joining a cast with Vince Vaughn and Dave Franco is an interesting twist.

This indie thriller about a mind-control expert (Leland Orser) hired to deprogram a cult member (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) looks intriguing and is from the producers of the superb “You’re Next,” for whatever that’s worth. (Gateway Film Center)

“Kidnapping Mr. Heineken”

Anthony Hopkins stars as Dutch beer mogul Freddy Heineken in this movie adapted from the true story of an elaborate kidnapping plot. (Gateway Film Center)
