New in theaters:

The latest from Cameron Crowe (“Almost Famous,” “Say Anything”) features a great cast (Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone and more), but the fact that it wasn’t screened for critics has me nervous.

“The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence)”

Director Tom Six promises to push to new depths in his gross-out trilogy. Look, you’re either going to see this or you’re not. I can’t talk you out of it.

“Dark Star: H.R. Giger’s World”

The dark art of late Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger gets an in-depth look, including some fascinating interviews in the days leading up to his death. A must for fans, but not enough insight for anyone else. (2 1/2 stars, Gateway Film Center)

Alive recommends:

Brad Bird’s poorly marketed Disney movie is already being labeled a flop, but I found it full of imagination and optimism. Give it a shot before it flies out of theaters. (3 1/2 stars)
