Staff Pick: Barley's, Beats and 'Blade Runner'

Andy Downing

The much-anticipated (and tightly guarded) “Blade Runner 2049” finally surfaces this week. Early reviews of the update on the sci-fi classic, which was directed by Denis Villeneuve (“Sicario,” “Arrival”) and stars legendary crank Harrison Ford and the beloved Baby Goose (aka Ryan Gosling), are glowing, with The New York Times writing, in part, “There is something to think about here, a fair amount to feel and even more to see.” (Watch for Brad Keefe's take in next week's issue.)

To celebrate the film's release, Studio 35 in Clintonville has teamed with Barley's Brewing Company for a “Blade Runner” screening/beer tasting. (The “beats” portion of the evening arrives courtesy of a live performance by Envelope.) Here's betting the film's visuals are even more dizzying once you knock back the 10th and final craft beer sample.
